From August until the end of October 2011, locals and visitors flock to Salzburg’s surrounding towns and villages where countless traditional events and festivals celebrate the season of the harvest.
Bauernherbst Events 2011
The choice of theme hikes, local beer fests and open houses at local dairy producers is sheer endless and the perfect opportunity for the whole family to venture out to Salzburg’s picturesque surroundings for day or half day trips.
You can watch cheese being produced or take part in guided nature walks or simply enjoy the atmosphere, soaking up the late summer sun and the buzz. An event calendar will give you an overview on all the Salzburger Bauernherbst festival events on offer (German only).
Culinary Delights at the Bauernherbst Harvest Festival
Of course nobody visiting the Bauernherbst festivities will stay hungry or thirsty. Leave plenty of space for regional and local delicacies like the popular farmer’s doughnuts, “Pofesen” (battered and fried toast filled with prune jam) and of course the lovely fruit juices and beer specialities that the Salzburg region has to offer.
